Crisp Clean White

 The other week I went wedding dress shopping with my best friend. Finding the perfect dress for her perfect day was a piece of cake, the dress ended up being the very first one she tried on. As we brainstormed bridesmaid dress color options I realized my favorite color isn't technically a color, it's white. I flipping love white. Not that I needed to go to a Bridal Salon to be reminded of how much I love white, I mean have you seen my apartment? I don't think I've seen (with a few exceptions) an all white room, outfit, or exterior I didn't fall in love with. We don't find out whether Baby Boland is a boy or a girl for a few more weeks so the nursery decor process is still on hold, but I have a feeling a lot of it will involve, surprise surprise, white.

The Other Draper...

After blogging about Downton Abbey yesterday, I thought about my other favorite shows and which ones had fabulous sets. Being in this field allows Mom and I to live vicariously through our client's, and while we definitely have our own "style" we like to let our client's style dictate their spaces. Appreciating good design, even if it isn't something you would replicate in your own home is important, and piecing together different looks from different periods is usually our favorite approach. Downton is truly one of the most unique settings, but there are so many other goodt series with great bones and funky decor. I think everyday this week I will feature different shows from my list of favs. At the end of the week we can all vote on which one we would want to live in! Today will be the Mid Century Modern look which has become trendy again thanks to Mad Men. 

I know it's not really "mid century" but I love the house Henry and Betty moved into!

Highclere Castle

A few client's of mine mentioned to me ages ago that I should start watching Downton Abbey, if not for the story line but for the interior design. I don't know what the hell is wrong with me and why I didn't listen to them until recently, but I'm officially obsessed! The house, the grounds, the interior, and the clothes! A-ma-zing. I just finished watching the season finale of the second season and I don't know what I am going to do with myself until January when the show returns for season three. Highclere Castle is breathtaking. I can't imagine what the monthly maintenance costs would be on a property like that, but all the more reason to rent the place out for filming. The Earl and Countess of Carnarvon not only let Downton Abbey film at the estate, but they rent out parts of the Castle for weddings. Could you imagine getting married here, or better yet, living here?! 

PS Why can't more shows be as entertaining as this?

Happy New Year!

Getting all dolled up and spending a night/fortune out on the town seemed like the obvious choice for the Mr. and I for our first New Years Eve as husband and wife, but this year we have decided to babysit instead! Maybe it is because our nieces and nephew are soo adorable, or because we have become such homebodies, but an evening spent chowing down on Homemade Pizza Co. and watching Despicable Me sounded too good to pass up. Ringing in the new year with my love curled up on the sofa with a glass (or three) of champagne is my plan for this New Years Eve, but next year will look more like this...

in order to successfully pull this look together I will need to win the lottery.
