Crisp Clean White
The other week I went wedding dress shopping with my best friend. Finding the perfect dress for her perfect day was a piece of cake, the dress ended up being the very first one she tried on. As we brainstormed bridesmaid dress color options I realized my favorite color isn't technically a color, it's white. I flipping love white. Not that I needed to go to a Bridal Salon to be reminded of how much I love white, I mean have you seen my apartment? I don't think I've seen (with a few exceptions) an all white room, outfit, or exterior I didn't fall in love with. We don't find out whether Baby Boland is a boy or a girl for a few more weeks so the nursery decor process is still on hold, but I have a feeling a lot of it will involve, surprise surprise, white.
Here you go Matt, Laura's dress may or may not be on this rack ;-)

Back From Cape May
We're back from a few days at the beach where we spent the majority of our time relaxing and the rest of our time building sand castles, dominating the arcade with our nieces and nephews, and eating smores. Next year we would definitely like to stay for the whole week, the town is beyond charming!

Mom's New Porch Sneak Peak
Here is a little preview of Mom's new porch as well as her inspiration for the new addition. The lantern, the planter's, the porch, the doors, and the Walpole Woodwork lattice screen are all new, the only thing old is the patio furniture. The contractors said we have to wait to paint the new railing until August when the wood cures, but other than that the outside portion of their renovation is complete. Mom and I have always loved Walpole's style so when she told me she ordered one of their lattice pieces I was so excited.
View looking out of the new Oval window in the kitchen onto the back porch.
I will have more official Before and After photo's once everything is painted but here is a shot to give you an idea of the overall feel of the exterior transformation out back.

Friday Favs
I am sorry I have been MIA lately but I will have lots to share with you all next week! In the meantime today's friday fav is oval windows. Mom and Dad have nearly completed their mini addition/renovation and I can not wait to share photos in the coming weeks, including the new oval window in their kitchen.

Easter Weekend In Louisiana
The Mr. and I spent Easter in Louisiana with his Grandparents and the rest of his family and we had an absolute blast. In addition to admiring the gorgeous architecture and eating everything in sight in downtown New Orleans, I got to see where the Mr. and his siblings spent their summers as kids, Camp Chickamaw. It was so fun to have the camp to ourselves for the day, the new owners are still in the family and were kind enough to let us explore and picnic all afternoon. It was nice getting to know more of the Mr's ginormous extended family, and spend time with his Grandparents. In my opinion Easter break should not be limited only to those in elementary school, I want an Easter/Spring Break every year.

Constructing A Rustic French Villa
The other week a client showed me a picture she absolutely loved on Houzz, and to my surprise it was the home of one of my client's / a good family friend. Last December I posted here while we were doing a drapery installation, but I have never shared pictures of this home before. Don't ask me why I haven't, aside from having 4 beautiful children (who I babysat ever since they were infants, and now the oldest is looking at colleges!) the client has a-ma-zing taste. The house is truly one of a kind. It's been about two years since they moved in and we are finally getting around to picking out window treatments for the kid's rooms. That's right, two years later and the kids still have the temporary paper shades hanging in their bedrooms and bathrooms, but at least they have a pool ;-)
Ankie Barnes of Barnes Vanze was the Principal Designer on the project (the most brilliant Architects in the country in my opinion) and Gibson Builders constructed the home. Photos via here and here Photographer: Anice Hoachlander from Hoachlander Davis Photography, LLC

Son Of A ....
Speaking of not having a living room big enough one day to fit the new Pipa cocktail table, my favorite house ever came on the market the other week (10 years too early for the Mr. and I to be able to afford it) and it's already under contract. For my friends who live in other parts of the country I would like you to know how insane DC is... the 1920's Spanish Style home was apparently such an "Incredible renovation opportunity" aka a total fixer upper, that they had no interior pictures online. Not one flipping photo of the inside of the house I drive by almost every day, not one, and to top it off they didn't even have an open house! For the love, how's a girl going to stalk and plan the layout of her future home if she can't even see inside the damn place? So what does a 4 bedroom fixer upper go for around here? Oh just a cool 950 thousand dollars, hence the title of today's post. Anyway this the house, and since I didn't get to see what the inside looks like, below you'll find a rendition of how it might look if Hank the Mr. and I lived there.
